CYNDI LAUPER
Farewell Tour, 2024 - 2025
Animation Direction
Designing visuals for Cyndi Lauper’s farewell tour felt less like creating concert content and more like stepping inside her imagination.
With twenty screens surrounding the stage, we had the opportunity to build an environment rather than simply place videos behind the band. I wanted the show to feel like entering Cyndi’s world — beginning with raw glitches, test patterns and fragments of imagery before unfolding into a vibrant visual landscape full of colour, movement and personality.
One of the most rewarding parts of the process was exploring the artists and references that have shaped Cyndi’s creative identity. For songs like Walk In and Shine, Cyndi introduced me to the work of Sonia Delaunay, an artist whose bold use of colour and rhythm became a natural visual language for these moments in the show.
Rather than giving every song the same visual treatment, I wanted each performance to become its own distinct environment — reflecting different moods, influences and aspects of Cyndi’s extraordinary career, while remaining part of the same creative universe.
Looking back, that is probably what I enjoyed most about the project. It wasn’t about illustrating songs. It was about building a world that felt as playful, fearless and unique as the artist standing at the centre of it.
