When Westlife reunited for their 20th anniversary, I was approached to create the film that would play during the interval of the tour.

The team had seen my work on U2 and wanted something with the energy of James Bond and Ocean’s Eleven. The story imagined the band’s reunion as a spy thriller, with each member receiving the call to come back for one final mission: reuniting Westlife for their 20th anniversary tour.

We didn’t have the budget or the time for full character animation, so I leaned into a comic book style instead. Strong character design, simple animation and cinematic framing did most of the storytelling. Sometimes limitations force you to simplify an idea, and in this case I think it made the film stronger.

I don’t often get asked to make spy thrillers. Even animated ones. I’d happily do another.
